Field Fibre Optical Test Engineer
I am currently on retainer for one of our most respected clients in Europe who are currently looking for multiple Fibre Optical Test Engineer to be based mainly in the field
The main role of this Fibre Optical Test Engineer is testing the end-to-end of connectivity of optical fibre paths using multiple testing apparatus (this can include OTDR tools and Chromatic Dispersion/ Polarisation Mode Dispersion tools).
This role is 100% onsite, so the candidate would need to live in Germany, be close to an airport and be happy to spend time away from home. The normal schedule would be flying out on a Monday and then home on a Friday. All expenses will be paid.

You will have the unique opportunity to fly to cities all across Europe and spend time working with some of the top engineers in the industry. Some of the time you will be working in Germany
This is also a contract position as a pure freelancer so you will need to be a tax resident of Germany and registered/ be comfortable to register as a Freelancer in Germany.
Responsibilities of this Fibre Optical Test Engineer position:
- Performing fiber characterization tests using OTDR, CD/PMD, power meter/laser source and fiber end face testing using industry standard test equipment
- Splicing or re-splicing of problematic fiber strands using industry standard fusion splicers
- Fiber end face cleaning using multiple methods
- Providing field analysis on Vendor's fiber network from test data
Required Experience of this Fibre Optical Test Engineer position:
- Able to describe the details and structure of ISP and OSP Fiber Networks
- Understanding of various fiber types
- English speaker OR German speaker
