Job Purpose:

To lead the Group’s Corporate Services activities (covering Premises, Procurement, Facilities Management and Security) and to be fully accountable for the performance of the teams in each Unit or Branch responsible for the provision of these services, ensuring that over time a standard way of working is adopted under the leadership of the job holder.

Be responsible for developing the Group’s capability in the Corporate Services arena, challenging and improving all aspects of cost, controls and performance in this key area of the business at local Unit and Group level. The job holder must be able to identify and implement more productive and cost-effective ways of working in each Unit, ultimately bringing about a standard way of working across the Group in order to mitigate risk. As a member of the COO leadership team, the job holder is expected to fully contribute to the successful execution of business objectives.

To embed an effective and standardized procurement and contract management culture across the Group.

The job holder is responsible for the development and implementation of Corporate Services goals, policies, procedures, and standards within the scope of existing laws and company authority.

Principal Responsibilities, Accountabilities and Deliverables of Role:

Reporting to the Group Chief Operating Officer the job holder will be responsible for:

  • Develop and fosters relationships at the executive level cross-functionally as well as with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Serve as principal advisor to executive leadership and management for all Corporate Services activities.
  • Leadership of staff and vendors who deliver Integrated Corporate Services for each Unit (Premises, Procurement, Facilities Management and Security).
  • Strategic direction of all services within scope including the creation of a common target operating model for team structure, roles and responsibilities and driving the review of strategic outsourcing opportunities and benefits.
  • Define performance expectations and savings goals for the Corporate Services organization.
  • Prepare and ensure adherence to operational budgets.
  • Creating an effective financial control, approvals and reporting framework for all services within scope.
  • Implementing appropriate technologies and processes across all service lines.
  • Develop and deploy relevant Key Performance metrics to drive a consistent, rigorous and on-going assessment of the Group’s Corporate Services activities.
  • Ensuring compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations.
  • Developing Global Corporate Services Operational (Opex) budget by country, by building.
  • Developing Global Corporate Services Capital budget by country, by building.
  • Driving a culture of Accountability and Ownership within operational teams.
  • Enhancing customer (end user) satisfaction.
  • Serving as point of contact for disputes and escalations within countries.

Workplace Strategy & Planning

  • Interface with respective business senior management (typically CEO’s or GM’s, country COOs or LOB COO’s) to:
  • Develop regional and country level location strategy to align with business objectives.
  • Develop global workplace Design and Operating Standards – targeting a consistent look and feel across locations.
  • Establish Framework agreements with key vendor/consultant partners.

Vendor Management

  • Establish a VM function, managing overall vendor performance and risk with inputs from Unit teams.
  • Design and implement Group policies and standards for VM processes.
  • Define and execute management routines with Vendor Managers to discuss Vendor performance, risks and issues.
  • Creating long term partnerships with appropriate regional vendors and consulting teams that can provide strategic advice and service delivery.
  • Identify, mitigate, monitor remediation of vendor performance, risks and issues.
  • Escalate risks and issues through the Group COO.
