As an Environmental Health Officer, you will experience a diverse role working across all aspects of environmental health functions including:
- Provide food safety and hygiene education and awareness.
- legislative compliance in the Isaac region in accordance with the Local Government Act 2009, Food Act 2006, Public Health Act 2005, Environmental Protection Act 1994, Waste Reduction and Recycling Act 2011, Water Supply (Safety and Reliability) Act 2008, and Isaac Regional Council Local Laws.
- Make recommendations and decisions based on sound risk assessment and apply a proportionate compliance strategy in line with processes and escalations contained in Council Policy, Procedures, and Frameworks that also considers public interest factors.
- Negotiate positive outcomes through effective communication to resolve community complaints in a timely and efficient manner.
- Undertake internal compliance programs for Environmentally Relevant Activities (ERAs).

- Demonstrated knowledge and experience applying relevant legislation to undertake the position specific accountabilities of an Environmental Health Officer.
- Proven ability to plan and implement community programs, projects and training, including the ability to develop and maintain business and industry partnerships;
- Demonstrated project management skills, with the ability to consistently achieve goals, work autonomously and prioritise work tasks to achieve program objectives;
- High-level written and interpersonal skills including advanced negotiation, liaison and mediation skills;
- Demonstrated research, planning, analytical and problem-solving skills transferrable to this position.
- Salary $79,732.11 - $86,067.78 per annum plus allowances (Stream A, Level 4 – 5)
- Based in Moranbah
- 5 weeks annual leave pro-rata @ 17.5% loading
- 15 Days’ personal leave per annum
- Up to 13.5% super in accordance with IRC’s Certified Agreement
- RDO’s in accordance with IRC’s Certified Agreement
