Production Planner [South Africa]


 

Main job purpose

Responsible for production planning and scheduling to ensure the smooth flow of product throughout the Plant, taking bottlenecks and constraints into account whilst maximizing labour and machine utilization, maintaining target WIP and finished goods stock levels and ensuring customer requirements are met.

Main Objective

Responsible for the interpreting of sales demand, and the long range impact of such, for both OE and SBU on Widney operations by considering the resource requirements and planning to ensure accurate resource planning and budget (long term planning).

Responsible for translating daily demand and order book (OE and SBU) into agreed, achievable production schedules considering resource capacity (including bottleneck identification, labour allocation and procurement constraints) to build the optimal production schedule and maintain targeted WIP and finished goods stockholding (medium term planning).

Responsible for assisting the Purchasing and the Warehouse functions in placing orders and SAP transactions as well as expediting materials, sub-contracting and production, when necessary, to meet the production plan and ultimately customer requirements.

Responsible for monitoring and adjusting production plans due to operational, supply and demand issues by liaising with Sales, Procurement, Logistics and Production to agreed priorities to best meet customer orders and to drive customer satisfaction.

Communicate production requirements timeously to Procurement to acquire materials in time to meet the production plan so as to meet customer demand.

Identify opportunities for improvement in operational processes, material stock holding, warehousing and procurement to streamline the process and reduce costs.

Coordination and communication of weekly production plan between all parties for effective execution and schedule adherence that satisfies customer demand.

Ensure effective communication of relevant information to all stakeholders to support decision making for the business.

Critical job requirements

Qualification(s)

· Grade 12

· Diploma in Logistics, Industrial Engineering or Equivalent
